Upcoming Litters

I thought I would just post briefly to sort of get this up to date on what we are expecting from litters within the next month.

Our black doe Sydney (3 Legs) was bred back to Lindsay, one of our main herd bucks, a blue tort with 2 legs on October 9th. We are nervous as always with Sydney because she just never seems satisfied with the nestbox or just doesn't like them cause she always has her litters out on the wire. I was lucky enough to be out in the rabbitry when she dropped a litter about a year ago and after they were placed in the nestbox with the tons of wool she had pulled she took care of them. The next litter was much the same however as she kindled on the wire. Best luck to us to get another live litter out of her.

Samara, our only Sable Point doe is also due to kindle on the 9th of November. This will be her first litter and we hope she does well with them. She is a slightly larger doe but has nice type and great wool so we will see.

Cagney, a tort doe we aquired this year was bred for the first time on October 19th to Bud (broken tort). Hopefully she will be as good a mom as most of our Fuzzy Lops have been.

Sharon, a large REW doe was also bred on the 19th to Dustin (a tiny REW buck). Dustin is gorgeous and hopefully paired with Sharon (who besides the size is a lovely doe) they will produce some nice babies. Sharon is also a first time mom, so cross your fingers!

A few days later on the 22nd of October we bred three more does: Nicole (Opal) to Kelly (Chestnut), Rhonda (Broken Chestnut) to Chad (Chinchilla) and Shelly (GC Tort) to Morgan (Broken Chestnut). All three of these does have had litters before and successfully raised them so we are not too worried. Anything can happen however, so we will be on guard as always.

I hope to have news very very soon on our new litters as they arrive and hopefully it is great news.
